New Maintenance Fee at Victoria Falls Bridge

A new bridge maintenance fee for every vehicle crossing the Victoria Falls Bridge was recently discussed between the relevant Zimbabwe and Zambia tourism stakeholders.

Linking the two countries, the historic bridge crosses the Zambezi River. The fee influences all self-drive travellers, as well as all travel companies operating regular transfers across the bridge.

For the meantime, tourism stakeholders promoting Victoria Falls have been unsuccessful with their attempts to have the fees disregarded for tourism industry vehicles and are therefore having to pass the charge on to their guests.

Wild Horizons, one of the main tour operators at Victoria Falls, has reported having to add an additional cost of USD2.50 per person to all new reservations booked from March 07. Reportedly, the new charge will be shown separately as a Victoria Falls Bridge fee, so that it is non-commissionable.
