The announcement came during the inauguration of the Dominican Republic archaeology mission temporary exhibition, located within the foyer of the Egyptian museum located at Cairo’s Tahrir Square. Specifically, the exhibition is celebrating 10 years of excavations carried out by the Dominican archaeologists at the Taposiris Magna Abo Seer site north of Alexandria, searching for the tombs of Ptolemaic Queen Cleopatra and Mark Antony.
The excavations came in cooperation with Egyptian archaeological experts headed by professor Zahy Hawas. Alanany stated that the working archaeological missions are doing great efforts in the Egyptian antiques excavations. The Dominican ambassador in Egypt attended the inauguration together with Kathleen Martinez, head, of the Dominican mission. Martinez stated that exhibition is showing 300 pieces arranged by the locations in which they were found.
