Cape Town Tourism Empowers Young Entrepreneurs

Seeking to attract more entrepreneurs to the tourism sector, Cape Town Tourism’s goal for Youth Month 2018 is to empower and enable young entrepreneurs.

According to Cape Town Tourism, the main barriers include funding and a lack of mentorship programmes, however the tourism board is taking appropriate steps to help overcome these setbacks.

Specifically, Cape Town Tourism’s Board Development Fund (BDF) is one of many opportunities for young entrepreneurs to gain a foothold in the industry. BDF was created to provide access to mentorship to historically disadvantaged businesses. Cape Town Tourism has also developed the Halal Chef Exchange to encourage local chefs to expand on their culinary knowledge.

“With growth in the sector, we must encourage creative, young entrepreneurs to explore the industry,” said Enver Duminy, CEO, Cape Town Tourism.
