ILTM North America 2019 – 71 Percent New Travel Agents

With the luxury accommodation sector projected to reach USD95 billion globally by 2025 (according to Boston Consulting Group), driven largely by increased spending on experiences, 360 of the world’s most high-end travel suppliers and experiences from 60 countries gathered in Mayakoba, Riviera Maya, Mexico at the 8th edition of International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) North America.

The event included 360 agents who curated personal travel itineraries for their private clients – North America’s highest net worth travellers.

With 55 percent of consumer spending on luxury today spent on luxury experiences (according to Boston Consulting Group), the business of luxury travel was evident in over 19,000 one-to-one curated meetings throughout the week.

To reflect the growing global concern for the world’s oceans and ecosystems, the event theme of #journeydeeper was activated with events designed to calm the flow of the mind for guests, through to practical action with 60 new coral reefs to that were planted in Mayakoba by ILTM on October 01 and all four hotels on the resort (Andaz, Banyan Tree, Fairmont and Rosewood) who pledged to be single use plastic free by mid 2021.
