Canada’s Online Travel Market Rises According to Phocuswright

Canadians have driven a rise in online transactions making the country’s travel industry healthy.

Online gross bookings grew by 11 percent in 2017 reaching USD14,3 billion, while Canadian online travel penetration of the total market will rise from 41 percent in 2017 to 47 percent by 2021.

The share of Canadian travellers who only or usually book online, rose from 50 percent in 2014 to 55 percent in 2017. However, online booking incidence correlates strongly to age: more than six in 10 Canadian travelers age 18-34 only or usually booked online in the past 12 months, compared to just 44 percent of travellers 55 and older.
