Bermuda’s Tourism Industry Achieves Record Results

In 2017, Bermuda’s tourism industry recorded its highest performance in a decade, with the number of air leisure visitors and money spent on-island surging reaching high percentage growth.

Air leisure spending during 2017 increased by 22.5 percent, while air leisure arrivals increased by 11 percent, cruise spending by 7.6 percent, and hotel occupancy by 9.2 percent.

Around 83 percent of the 2017 leisure air growth is from visitors younger than 45, which is an audience that also had strong spending power that year.

Additionally, 2017 saw the highest visitor numbers to the island in recorded history. The total estimated amount directly injected into the island’s economy by visitors was USD431 million, which represented a sizeable 20 percent increase over 2016.
