Allianz Reveals US Traveller Summer Plans

Allianz Global Assistance, a travel insurance provider, recently analysed US travellers impending summer plans, revealing that Cancun, Mexico remains the top destination.

Despite the US State Department’s recent level two travel advisory for Americans to carefully consider their travel to the region, the survey noted that San Juan, Puerto Rico’s capital, is starting to regain its stride as a popular travel destination after 2017’s Hurricane Maria, coming in at number eight on the list.

Based on customers’ trips planned from May 28, through September 03, for travel between five to eight days in length, Allianz pinpointed where Americans are looking to spend their summer vacations.

“This year’s results yielded some interesting findings: New York is a newcomer to the list, revealing that travellers are not only interested in beach destinations this summer,” said Daniel Durazo, director, communications, USA, Allianz Global Assistance. “And despite recent travel warnings and 2017’s Hurricane Maria, Americans are still choosing to travel to Cancun and Puerto Rico.”

This year’s results revealed that Americans looking to travel domestically are planning trips to Orlando and New York City, followed in popularity by Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
