Cuba Welcomes Two Million Tourists

The arrival in Cuba of two million international visitors so far this year confirms tour operator, travel agency, airline and vacationer confidence in this Caribbean destination, according to the country’s ministry of tourism, MINTUR.

This figure was obtained May 18, and in the midst of the worsening economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US on the island. In a press release, MINTUR said the result comes despite campaigns and measures aimed at hindering US travel to Cuba and the impact of Hurricane Irma, which hit the country in September 2017.

Specifically, Canada and the usual European markets continue to set the tone in the amount of visitors to the Caribbean nation, while Russia, Mexico, Argentina, China and Brazil stand out for their sustained growth.
