For the third year in a row, Susana Martinez, governor, New Mexico, the US, has declared June as Great Outdoors Month in the state.

Great Outdoors Month was established to help Americans celebrate the educational, economic and health benefits of active, fun, outdoor activities through a month of events that include National Trails Day, National Marina Day and Great American Campout.

To celebrate, New Mexicans are encouraged to escape the indoors by visiting a state park that they have never been to before.

New Mexico state parks include City of Rocks State Park (Faywood), Manzano Mountains State Park (Cibola National Forest), Navajo Lake State Park (Navajo Dam), Bluewater Lake State Park (Santa Rosa) and Clayton Lake State Park (Clayton) each with unique attractions.
