Smithsonian Sports Exhibition at Pioneer Museum

Pioneer Florida Museum & Village, in cooperation with Florida Humanities Council, is due to host Smithsonian Museum’s Hometown Teams: How Sports Shape America travelling exhibition from March 17 – April 28.

Hometown Teams captures the stories that unfold on neighbourhood fields and courts; the underdog heroics, larger-than-life legends, fierce rivalries and gut-wrenching defeats.

Pioneer and the surrounding community were selected by the Council as part of the Museum on Main Street programme, a national, state and local partnership bringing presentations and programmes to rural cultural organisations.

Local exhibitions and public programmes, including family book nights, will compliment the Smithsonian exhibition, which will tour six communities across Florida

This will be Smithsonian’s second exhibition at Pioneer Florida Museum & Village.
