According to a survey by Allianz Global Assistance, only 4.8 percent of US citizens questioned are attending the upcoming Winter Olympics, while 74.4 percent of respondents said they would not be interested in travelling to Pyeongchang, South Korea for the Olympics.

The survey added that 41.4 percent of US citizens surveyed say the location of the Winter Olympics negatively impacts their interest in travelling to the games. Travel costs, 29.5 percent, and safety/health concerns, 18.3 percent, were the biggest influencers.

Allianz Global Assistance added that 62.9 percent of respondents noted that nothing could be done to make them feel more comfortable in travelling to Pyeongchang, while 32.6 percent do not believe that North Korea should be permitted to participate. 13.8 percent of respondents could be made more comfortable by proof of increased security measures, and 2.4 percent by a travel insurance policy.
