IHG expects to open its first Australian dual-branded hotel by 2022, following the signing of Hotel Indigo Melbourne Little Collins and Holiday Inn Melbourne Bourke Street Mall.

Currently trading as The Walk Arcade, the central business district site will allow the hotels to form a symbiotic relationship, anticipated to capitalise on Melbourne’s booming corporate and leisure demand.

The AUD200 million (USD150.24 million) mixed-use development will include international retail flagship stores and a combined 453-room hotel (181 rooms for Hotel Indigo and 272 rooms for Holiday Inn), featuring food and beverage outlets, a gym, meeting spaces and unique and distinct guest lobby and room experiences for each brand.

Abhijay Sandilya, senior director, development, Australasia, IHG, elaborated, “With such a large property and sought-after location, dual branding makes perfect sense. IHG has experience with dual branded properties in other markets, including Hotel Indigo and Holiday Inn Express in Singapore Katong, and a dual-branded EVEN Hotel and Holiday Inn Express planned for Auckland [New Zealand] in 2020.”
