According to Tourico Holidays’ booking data for the year, there has been a 97 percent climb in hotel bookings in India over the same period in 2016.

The number of reservations from the European Union has been the driving force of the increase, with 109 percent more rooms booked.

China, the UAE, and Canada all showed year-on-year growth, up 115 percent, 113 percent, and 105 percent, respectively.

Partly attributing the success to the relaxed visa scheme, Madhuri Khanna, regional director, product development, Southeast Asia, Tourico Holidays, said, “India is currently experiencing a boom in travel demand, and with a diversity of source markets increasing their bookings, it is a safe bet that the country’s tourism industry will experience healthy growth throughout the next decade.”
