Rex Expands Western Australia Flight Services

Western Australia’s (WA) state government has signed a five-year deal with airline Regional Express (Rex) to operate scheduled air services on the Perth --Carnarvon/Monkey Mia route.

This gives Rex the sole right to operate on the route for five years, slated for a July 02 start.

Rex anticipates operating 24 weekly services between Perth and Carnarvon, and 12 weekly services between Perth and Monkey Mia.

An official Rex announcement noted that the new services will represent a 20 percent flight frequency increase for Carnarvon and a 50 percent increase for Monkey Mia. The extra flight frequency between Perth and Carnarvon will deliver a Monday to Friday flight schedule with morning and evening return services. The 12 weekly services between Perth and Monkey Mia will operate daily from Sunday to Friday inclusive. Flights went on sale on March 01.

“Rex has fully lived up to expectations in its first foray into WA,” commented Warrick Lodge, general manager, network strategy and sales, Rex.
