Australia’s NT Injects Finances to Boosts Tourism

Australia’s Northern Territory (NT) Government released an AUD103 million (USD80.6 million) tourism stimulus package to attract more visitors and increase local job opportunities.

Tourism is considered a key driver to the NT economy, supporting small and medium size businesses and 17,000 direct and indirect jobs across sectors ranging from; tourism, hospitality, retail, arts and culture and transport.

Starting immediately and rolling out over the next two financial years, the Tourism Stimulus Package is expected to, among other things, fund smarter and more targeted tourism marketing.

It will also finance new tourism infrastructure and related programmes, and be used to enhance existing festivals, events and other tourism experiences, those aiming to create unforgettable memories for visitors, particularly at NT parks and reserves.
