Tourism Tasmania Reveal Results of Visitor Survey

Tourism Tasmania has released the latest statistics of its Tasmanian Visitor Survey (TVS) for the year ending December 2017. According the latest results, the TVS showed that Tasmania had welcomed 1,261,700 visitors throughout 2017.

The total spend was AUD2.3 billion (USD1.7 billion) while the average spend per night was AUD216 (USD165). Average spending per visitor is estimated at AUD1,844 (USD1,414).

According to the TVS, all Tasmanian regions experienced total visitor number growth during the year ending December 2017. Cradle Coast welcomed 507,300 visitors, while North Coast had 690,700 and East Coast 386,300. The most visited region according to Tourism Tasmania was South Coast with 1,010,700.

The information collected through the TVS helps the authority to measure progress and guide its marketing activities. It also assists tourism organisations, tourism operators, other government agencies and business consultants to better understand the tourist activity and impact it has on the visitor economy.
