Australia Saw 11 Percent Growth in Tourists

According to Tourism Australia, the number of international arrivals to Australia significantly rose in 12 months to June, with the number of holidaymakers up 11 percent.

The country saw double digit growth from particular markets, led by a 35 percent year-on-year surge in tourists from Indonesia. India, Malaysia and South Korea also recorded substantial growth, up 21 percent, 20 percent and 17 percent, respectively.

The North American market also rose, with a 19 percent jump in travellers from Canada and an 18 percent boost in visitors from the US.

Meanwhile, uncertainty following the Brexit vote and the drop of the British Pound is thought to be a key factor in the eight percent drop in spending by travellers from the UK.
