Territory Government Invests Millions into Tourism

Territory Labour Government rolled out a record AUD103 million (USD80.9 million) tourism stimulus package to attract more visitors, create local jobs and support Territorians.

The package is expected to deliver USD20.9 million for smarter and more targeted tourism marketing; USD44.2 million for new tourism infrastructure creating more memorable experiences for visitors; and USD16.3 million to enhance existing festivals, events and other tourism offerings.

The marketing package is expected to generate a USD271 million return on investment over the next two years.

Michael Gunner, chief minister, Northern Territory, said, “Creating local jobs is my number one priority and this plan to ‘Turbocharge’ tourism is a serious show of support for local business. I will move heaven and earth to support Territory business during this tough economic period […].”
