Tourism Australia, the Australian Government agency responsible for attracting international visitors to Australia, both for leisure and business events, recently supported a familiarisation tour.

The familiarisation tour was organised by Superyacht Group Great Barrier Reef for delegates from the UK, Hong Kong, Tahiti and the US.

The five-day visit highlighted the attractions of North Queensland including Great Barrier Reef, Cairns Marlin Marina, Mossman Gorge, Port Douglas-Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina, Lizard lsland and Barron Falls.

Delegates were also treated to tours of Hamilton Island,  and the Whitsundays.

The overseas visitors were, in addition, fully hosted on the 35 m yacht, MY Spirit.

The Australian Superyacht sector generates nearly AUD190 million (USD144.02 million) per annum from international visitors and crew expenditure.
