TAT said the MoU falls under the Thai government’s initiative to promote emerging secondary destinations around the country. It also hopes to achieve a better distribution of tourist arrivals between urban and rural areas, even out a high seasonality factor, and encourage more weekday travel, read a TAT announcement.
Yuthasak Supasorn, governor, TAT, elaborated, “TAT and Toyota are organising promotional activities to encourage domestic Thai travel with creative itineraries that visit local communities and include local Thai experiences.”
In its initial stage, the cooperation will feature a car caravan trip, Go Local by Hilux Revo Rocco, anticipated to take place from May 11 – 13. Covering the southern Thailand provinces of Trang and Satun, 30 new Toyota Hilux Revo Rocco pickup trucks making up the caravan will showcase the rugged vehicles’ performance while visiting local attractions to engage and encourage interaction with the local community.
