TUI Flies First B737 MAX Using Bio Jet Fuel

TUI welcomed the first ever Boeing B737 MAX aircraft delivery flight using bio jet fuel.

The flight from Boeing’s Seattle-based manufacture facility to Stockholm, Sweden was performed with 30 percent blend biofuel.

This was among the most carbon-efficient flights ever accomplished by this aircraft type. The B737 MAX 8 was the aircraft’s second delivery to TUI fly Nordic.

“Seeing the Nordic countries are at the forefront of sustainable development, it is very fitting that our very first MAX flight on bio jet fuel touched ground here,” noted Alex Huber, managing director, TUI Nordic.

This aircraft type has 14 percent lower kerosene consumption and therefore 14 percent lower carbon emissions compared to similar sized aircraft previously operated by the carrier.

Boeing B737 MAX aircraft also have a 40 percent smaller noise footprint supporting TUI’s commitment to sustainability.
