TUI Unveil that Responsible Tourism is on the Up for UK Travellers

TUI UK & Ireland commissioned research company, Opinion Matters, to survey opinions of UK holidaymakers on the importance of responsible tourism earlier this year.

According to the research, nearly 50 percent of UK holidaymakers say giving back to a holiday destination is important to them. Moreover, even more UK holidaymakers agree travel companies’ commitment to support local communities impacts their booking decisions.

The research revealed the extent to which engagement with local culture and people can enhance holidays and help create unforgettable memories; 62 percent of UK holidaymakers agree that it makes them feel better when they know their holiday was organised with respect to nature and the local community; 55 percent prioritised enjoying delicious food, while 82 percent preferred sampling local cuisine; meanwhile, 48 percent of travellers chose visiting local markets and neighbourhoods and 68 percent said shopping for souvenirs was important; Finally, 50 percent of UK travellers revealed that taking a tour with a local guide was ideal.
