O2 Universum Coming Soon to Prague

Prague is set to welcome a new multifunctional and congress centre. Bestsport, which owns and operates the city’s O2 arena, announced it will construct a complex within what it labels as a small arena.

The centre will be named O2 universum and its construction budget is about CZK1.2 billion (EUR47.4 million).

The new complex, which is directly linked to O2 arena from the south, has four floors and a total area of almost 50,000 m2.

Featuring 21 halls of different sizes at disposal, small arena’s total capacity is being designed to accommodate up to 10,000 visitors.

The largest hall, with a capacity to hold up to 4,500 people, will be used as a space for organising medium-size concerts and sporting events.

On every floor of the complex, 13,000 m2 of space is being designed for exhibitions and commercial use.

“The O2 arena has proved the ability to successfully host the world’s greatest musicals or sporting events, however, we have been aware for a long time that there is an extensive space in the building that is not being used efficiently,” explained Robert Schaffer, chairman, board, Bestsport.
