For Austrian Airlines, the first three quarters of this year marked a positive growth in passenger volume with some 9.8 million passengers being carried between January and September, a 13.9 percent increase over the same period in 2016.

The airline also saw a 8.3 percent year-on-year rise in available seat kilometres, to more than 15.6 billion during the period under review.

In September, the carrier further increased its passenger volume and transported more than 1.3 million people, corresponding to a rise of 12.9 percent compared to the same month in 2016.

This growth is partially credited to the Air Berlin aircraft, deployed within a wet-lease agreement and the associated expansion of European flight offering as well as the expanded bilateral flight traffic between Austria and Germany.
