Tourism Ireland Finds Overseas Travel Down Post-Brexit

In research to determine the implications of Brexit commissioned by Tourism Ireland, it has been revealed that seven percent of Britons are less likely to holiday overseas this year.

Of those planning to go abroad, 50 percent will spend less while on holiday, 37 percent will lessen their budget and 25 percent will reduce the length of stay.

Furthermore, 26 percent of respondents will change their accommodation type, while 18 percent cited that the Brexit vote will influence their holiday choice and 17 percent will postpone a trip outside of the UK.

Niall Gibbons, CEO, Tourism Ireland, noted, "Tourism Ireland believes that the adverse impact of Brexit can be mitigated through a combination of aggressive overseas marketing and the continuation of existing successful wider policy initiatives."
