January Hotel Profits Soar Across Europe

Robust revenue growth and cost savings helped European hotels record a 16 percent year-on-year increase in profit per room during January, signalling a strong start to 2018, according to the latest worldwide poll by benchmarking service HotStats.

The 5.8 percent year-on-year RevPAR growth recorded by European hotels during the month, to EUR82.70 (USD102.07), was due to a 1.4-percentage point room occupancy increase, to 58.2 percent, as well as a 3.3 percent average room rate increase, to EUR142.21 (USD175.52.)

Volume and price growth at hotels across the continent spurred Non-Rooms Revenues increases, including Food & Beverage (+3.4 percent) and Conference & Banqueting (+4.6 percent) on a per available room basis, which contributed to the 4.9 percent TrevPAR increase for the month, to EUR131.55.
