This increase has been attributed mainly to the airline’s expanded flight offering in Europe. The flight offering, measured in available seat was up by 5.6 percent.
Revenue passenger km increased by 7.2 percent. Capacity utilisation of the flights (seat load factor) was at an average of 75.1 percent in May this year, 1.1 percent higher compared to May 2017. The number of flights climbed by five percent in May to 13,830.
Andreas Otto, chief commercial officer, Austrian Airlines, commented, “Despite several bank holidays in May and thus less business travellers, we were able to improve our passenger numbers significantly.”
