Europe Hotel ADR Rose in May – STR

In May, Europe's hotels saw occupancy dip 0.8 percent to 74.4 percent, while average daily rate (ADR) rose 1.5 percent to EUR113.35 (USD132.02) and revenue per available room (RevPAR) increased just 0.6 percent to EUR84.31 (USD98.19) according to global data benchmarker STR.

In the UK, the year-over-year ADR decline was the country’s first since October 2016. That decrease came even as strong demand (up two percent) outpaced healthy supply growth (up 1.4 percent).

Overall performance in London was negative (RevPAR down 4.5 percent); mainly due to the largest ADR decrease in the market (down 3.7 percent) for any May since 2009.

In France, occupancy rose 3.2 percent to reach 69.6 percent, ADR grew 1.7 percent to EUR120.87 (USD140.56) and RevPAR grew by 4.9 percent to EUR84.18 (USD97.90).
