Cyprus Witnesses an Increase in Tourist Arrivals in October

On the basis of the results of the Cyprus Passengers Survey, arrivals of tourists reached 436,509 in October compared to 433,617 in October 2018, recording an increase of 0,7 percent.

This October had the highest volume of tourist arrivals ever recorded in Cyprus during the specific month.

For the period of January – October arrivals of tourists totalled 3, 697,055 compared to 3,673,377 in the corresponding period of 2018, recording an increase of 0,6 percent and outnumbering the total arrivals ever recorded in Cyprus during the first 10 months of the year.

Tourist arrivals from Russia increased by 13,1 percent in October compared to October 2018 while an increase of 91,1 percent was recorded for tourists from Israel.

A decrease of eight percent in tourist arrivals from the UK and 14,7 percent from Germany were recorded.

The UK constitutes the main source of tourism for Cyprus for October, with a proportion of 31,9 percent while arrivals from Russia comprise 21,6 percent of total arrivals, from Israel 6,3 percent and from Germany five percent.
For a percentage of 85,2 percent of tourists, the purpose of their trip in October was for holidays, for 8,6 percent to visit friends and relatives and for 6,2 percent for business.
