Brest Welcomes First Visa-Free Tourists

A family from Poland was the first group of tourists to arrive in Brest visa-free.

At the Brest Central railway station the guests were welcomed by representatives of the local authorities, tour operators and mass media. Sergei Zhukov, deputy chairman, Brest City Hall, welcomed the first visa-free tourists and gave them a colourful album featuring the major tourist attractions of Brest. He expressed hope that they would enjoy their time in Brest and would come back to visit the city again.

As for the tourism infrastructure, there are 20 hotels in Brest which can accommodate up to two thousand tourists. Brest’s export of tourism services made up USD3.5 million in 2017. Local authorities believe that the inflow of tourists will increase significantly thanks to the visa-free programme.
