Puerto Vallarta Reports Record Occupancy and Arrivals

2017 saw Puerto Vallarta, Mexico set new hotel occupancy and international arrival records, according to the region’s Hotel Association.

Currently celebrating its 100th year anniversary, Puerto Vallarta Hotel Association reported a 75.6 percent occupancy rate for 2017. Furthermore, Puerto Vallarta International Airport received 3,093,200 international visitors, according to Mexican airport operator, Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico.

Additionally, 293,791 cruise passengers visited the destination in 2017 as 145 cruises called at the city’s port. Visitors from the US make up the largest share of international arrivals with 50.8 percent followed by Canadians at 15.6 percent and Europeans at 1.5 percent.

Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board announced that it is already anticipating a successful 2018 as it will host its annual tourism tradeshow Gala Puerto Vallarta - Riviera Nayarit, from February 12-13, the largest tourism industry event along Mexico’s Pacific Coast.
