IPK: 2017 a Success for International Travel

IPK International, a travel data provider, revealed at this year’s ITB Berlin exhibition that 2017 has been an exceptionally strong year for international travel. According to IPK, Europe is the main growth driver as both a source market and destination.

Europe was the strongest source region for international travel with an overall increase of seven percent compared to 2016, followed by North and Latin America, both six percent, and Asia with five percent. Also as a destination region, Europe profited most with eight percent more trips.

Additionally, the number of outbound trips worldwide increased by 6.5 percent, reaching nearly 1.2 billion international trips.

Also, for the first time since IPK surveys launched, the impact of terrorism on an international travel has decreased with destinations perceived as being safer than before.
