UNWTO and G20 Tourism Ministers Hold Meeting

World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) joined ministers of tourism of the G20 economies to calling upon G20 leaders to consider including tourism as a priority within their respective agendas.

The 8th Meeting of the Tourism Ministers of the G20 Economies was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina on April 17 under the South American country’s Presidency of the G20 with a focus on how tourism can embrace innovation and technology, foster new skills development to create new jobs.

In his meeting with Mauricio Macri, president, Argentina, Zurab Pololikashvili, secretary-general, UNWTO, stressed the capacity of tourism to create jobs and the need to advance the adaptation of the sector to digital transformation.

“We need to promote the role that tourism has in shaping the future of our world as the sector that will create more jobs in the coming decade” emphasised, Gustavo Santos, minister, tourism, Argentina.
