Poland Welcomes Record 18.3 Million Tourists in 2017

Over 18.3 million tourists visited Poland during a record-breaking 2017, according to a report compiled by the country’s Department of Tourism.

On the basis of research conducted by the Central Statistical Office, the Ministry and the National Bank of Poland, the figure represents an increase of 4.5 percent in comparison with 2016 when, it should be noted, the figures were boosted by two major events with Poland hosting the World Youth Day and European Men’s Handball Championship.

According to the report, non-residents came to Poland predominantly for tourist purposes, to visit their relatives and friends, and on business trips.

“According to the research we conducted, as many as 96 percent of foreign visitors were satisfied with their stay in our country,” commented Robert Andrzejczyk, president, Polish Tourism Organisation.
