Hierro will encourage tourism that minimises negative impacts Hierro will encourage tourism that minimises negative impacts

Fernando Hierro

Fernando Hierro has been named ambassador for responsible tourism at World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

Fernando Hierro’s legacy is closely associated with Spanish LaLiga giants, Real Madrid, a team with which he played more than 600 times. Over his career, he won five LaLiga titles, five Spanish Super Cups, the Copa del Rey, three UEFA Champions League titles and two Intercontinental Cups, among others. He is currently sports director at the Royal Spanish Football Federation.

As the new ambassador, Hierro will be the UNWTO’s official representative for responsible tourism, promoting ideas and strategic steps to encourage tourism that minimises negative social, economic and environmental impacts, while generating greater economic benefits.
