Tamsyn Wells, executive chef, African Pride, 15 on Orange, Autograph Collection and Dion Vengatass, chef de cuisine, Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel, participated in the programme and won a cooking competition that saw local chefs putting their Halal cooking skills to the test.
The programme is part of an ongoing campaign to prepare local restaurants for Muslim travellers, a key emerging tourism market.
This local edition of the chef exchange inspired CrescentRating to extend its reach, and they have since launched Halal Chef World, a similar training programme they are targeting at destinations across the globe.
