SITA Showcased Baggage Robot

During an innovation forum at Mexico City International Airport, SITA unveiled the next generation of baggage handling technology, the robot Leo, highlighting the potential for advancing the air transport industry.

Demonstrating how robotics could be used by airlines and airports to improve baggage handling, the fully autonomous and self-propelling robot is able to look after passengers’ luggage, including meeting and checking-in guests, printing tags and taking the bags for processing.

Speaking during the occasion, Alex Covarrubias, vice president, airport business, Latin America, SITA, said, "Robotics and automation, along with biometric identification and artificial intelligence, are changing the way airports will be designed in the future, making travel easier every step of the way and improving the passenger experience."
