City of Dreams Mediterranean Presents Marcos Baghdatis Tennis Academy

City of Dreams Mediterranean, Cyprus’ first integrated resort (IR) and the largest in Europe and the wider region, announced a partnership with renowned Cypriot tennis player, Marcos Baghdatis, to present the Marcos Baghdatis Tennis Academy. With the aim to become a sporting landmark in Cyprus, the academy will be located in City of Dreams Mediterranean and is scheduled to open in the first half of 2023.

Utilising the IR’s world-class sporting facilities, the academy will contribute to establishing sports tourism as an integral part of Cyprus’ tourism portfolio through hosting international-calibre tournaments. Under the direct supervision of Baghdatis, the academy will offer tennis coaching of all levels, from beginner to elite professional, and will also bring pickleball to the country. Furthermore, the academy will strive to promote positive change in the community through physical education while enhancing the overall level of tennis play in Cyprus by focusing on players’ athletic and academic development.

The Marcos Baghdatis Tennis Academy will feature 12 state-of-the-art tennis courts, including a professional-sized centre court, perfectly suited for international tournaments and sporting events. A shop offering professional tennis equipment will be available, as well as a café and changing facilities. Integrated within City of Dreams Mediterranean, the academy enables students and members convenient access to the IR’s extensive facilities. In addition, players and audiences arriving for regional events will be able to stay at the resort to enjoy its luxurious amenities.

The Academy coaching team comprises experienced tennis professionals including Karolina Baghdatis, formerly featured in the top 20 of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings, and Marcos Baghdatis himself. Classes will be offered to persons of all skill levels, aged six and above. Baghdatis, as the manager of the tennis academy, will also be available for consultation and advice, while supervising the scheduling and coaching programme and developing specialised tennis programmes.
