Hermes: Airports’ Passenger Traffic Surpassed One Million Passengers After 33 Months

The best performing month for this year, so far, was June, with Cyprus’ total passenger traffic surpassing one million passengers (Larnaca Airport: 650,519 – Paphos Airport: 358,550), and the average aircraft load factor reaching 87 percent (87 percent arriving and 86.2 percent departing).

This is a positive development, as this is the first time since the pandemic emerged, that Cyprus’ airports record (since October 2019) such a significant inflow of passengers in a single month. The top markets for June with the higher number in terms of arriving passengers were the UK, Greece, Israel, Germany, and Poland.

After many months of challenges due to the pandemic, as well as the invasion of Russia in Ukraine, and the low levels in passenger traffic, summer of this year shows a significant recovery, confirming the upward trend in passenger traffic.

Maria Kouroupi, senior manager of aviation development, marketing and communication, Hermes Airports, stated, “Surpassing the one million passenger’s barrier in June, besides the positive impact it has on everyone’s morale, it becomes evident that the efforts made during the previous months by Hermes as well as other tourism stakeholders, have borne fruit. The summer season has commenced with the most positive signs, revealing the passengers’ thirst for travel, as well as the vote of confidence placed on our country as a tourist product.”
