According to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the tourism and travel industry accounts for around 10 percent of global GNP, seven percent of global exports and more than ten percent of jobs. The industry is large – and also has a noticeable impact on the environment. Globally, tourism accounts for around five percent of CO2 emissions.
