Scotland Preparing for Inaugural European Golf Team Championships

European Tour and Ladies European Tour have jointly unveiled a new format and qualification process for what is being labelled as a revolutionary new golf event.

The inaugural European Golf Team Championships is to take place at Gleneagles, Scotland between August 08 – 12, as part of the innovative multi-sport Glasgow 2018 European Championships.

The new format will feature a 50/50 gender split with male and female professionals competing for equal prize money across both a Men’s and Women’s Team match play Championship as well as an 18-hole foursomes stroke play Mixed Team Championship.

Commenting on the European Golf Team Championships’ location, Aileen Campbell, sports minister, Scotland, expressed, “Scotland, the Home of Golf is no stranger to innovation when it comes to golf so it is fitting that history will once again be made with men and women competing side by side at the European Golf Team Championships.”
