The Natural States newest Arkansas Welcome Centre, located in Harrison, has been officially opened on November 0 2.
The event was hosted by the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) and the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism (ADPT). The public was invited to attend.
As part of the Welcome Centres recent USD2,5 million upgrade, a completely new building was built in the same location as the old centre.
The facility offers visitors up-to-the minute information on attractions, regional events and weather conditions. The building amenities include computer kiosks, Wi-Fi and free coffee. The landscaped exterior also offers picnic tables for travellers looking to take a short break from the road.
The ribbon cutting ceremony included a presentation of the colours by the Arkansas National Guard and comments by ARDOT and ADPT staff.
13 Welcome Centres are located at various points of entry to the state. An additional location can be found in Little Rock, which serves as a centrally-located centre for visitors.
