Gulf hospitality operators looking to increase their share of the growing Halal tourism market should diversify and digitise their offerings to suit younger generations of Muslim travellers, according to experts speaking at Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2019.

Muslim travellers will spend USD157 billion by 2020, driven by millennial travellers, with the top outbound market remaining to be Saudi Arabia, which will grow 17 percent over the next three years alone, to reach USD27.9 billion.

A total of 35,000 Muslim travellers participated in a survey that was arranged by Sociable Earth, an organisation that provides practical travel information to travellers who are followers of Islam.
