South America’s tourism is fragile compared to regions such as North America and Europe. Unstable political climates, fears of corruption, and perceived crime are all factors that impact the continent, and these risks have only increased over 2020 as a consequence of the pandemic.
The Costa Rica Tourism Board (ICT) and representatives of the local private sector have unveiled a list of 16 health protocols for the safe reopening of some of the country’s most popular tourism areas that were affected by the Covid-19 global pandemic.
During the second quarter (Q2) of this year, hotels in Central/South America reported occupancy rose 2.4 percent year over year to 55.3 percent, ADR increased 23.6 percent to USD117.24 and RevPAR rose 26.6 percent to USD64.80, according to STR.
