The government of Tanzania has pledged to undertake an environmental impact assessment for its proposed hydroelectric plant in the Selous Game Reserve. This follows international opposition to the proposal of the Stiegler’s Gorge power plant.

At the 41st meeting of UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee in Krakow, 63 new locations of ancient and primeval beech forests across 10 countries were added to the World Heritage List, including Slovenian Krokar virgin forest and the Snežnik-Ždrocle forest reserve.
