Iraqi Airways Takes on Russia

According to AACO, on September 17, Iraqi Airways commenced weekly flights to Moscow Vnukovo Airport from Basra and Baghdad.

The service will further serve passengers wishing to connect from Iraq to the Russian capital, and are expected to boost tourism and business between the countries. The schedule from Baghdad International Airport is operated on Wednesdays with a Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

Said to be one of the oldest carriers in the Middle East, Iraqi Airways first began operations in 1945. It now serves a number of domestic routes as well as destinations in the Middle East, Europe and Asia.
