Middle East and Africa Hotels See Room Occupancy Growth

The latest poll from HotStats revealed that hotels in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) recorded uplift in room occupancy levels.

Although MEA hotels suffered a 2.9 percent drop in achieved average room rate in December 2017, a 3.1 percent increase in room occupancy, to 66.6 percent, helped drive a 1.8 percent increase in RevPAR.

The uplift in volume contributed to an increase in non-rooms revenues, including food and beverage at five percent and conference and banqueting at 4.1 percent, which supported a 2.3 percent increase in TrevPAR in December 2017.

In addition to the growth in TrevPAR, profit levels at hotels in the MEA region were further boosted by a 0.7 percent saving in Payroll, which fell to 23.3 percent.
