Queen Alia International Airport Achieves Record Numbers

Jordan’s Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) welcomed 624,207 passengers during January.

The numbers mark a significant increase of 8.2 percent compared to 576,912 passengers recorded during the same month year-on-year, according to Airport International Group (AIG).

In January this year, QAIA also registered 5,672 aircraft movements as opposed to 5,819 year-on-year, meaning a 2.5 percent year-on-year drop. Meanwhile, cargo figures increased by 14.8 percent as QAIA handled 8,074 tonnes of cargo compared to 7,036 tonnes during the same month.

Kjed Binger, group CEO, AIG, remarked, “We aim to see 2018 be yet another successful year to add to our repertoire, as we implement strategies that will improve our services and bolster our operations so that we may continue to maintain QAIA’s standing as Jordan’s prime gateway to the world.”
