H.E. Yehia Rashed, minister of tourism, Egypt, revealed that Arab countries represent the strongest source market for Egypt tourism, accounting for 36.3 percent of total visitors in 2016.

Meanwhile, in the first quarter of this year, the North African country welcomed a 38.8 percent year-on-year increase in Arab arrivals, following the upward trajectory seen in 2016, where two million tourists from the region visited, 13.2 percent more than in 2015.

While mentioning that Egypt's participation in ATM is to further encourage and attract tourists from Arab countries, Rashed added that in 2016, Saudi Arabia ranked first as the feeder market, with 570,000 tourists, followed by 180,000 Jordanians, 150,000 Kuwaitis and 86,000 Lebanese visitors.
