Several stakeholders attended the Mumbai-based biennial international networking conference and exhibition, which took place from February 20 – 22, to discuss the latest trends, challenges, opportunities, and the air cargo industry’s future.
BAC’s participation at the exhibition is designed to be part of its overall strategy aiming to increase BIA’s cargo traffic. According to BAC, BIA’s cargo traffic experienced a 10 percent growth during 2017, reaching a total of 289,325 tonnes compared to 2016’s 263,956 tonnes.
Ayman Zainal, chief commercial officer, BAC, emphasised, “South Asia is a productive region and an emerging market that Bahrain very much appreciates being connected to.”
Furthermore, BAC analysed the effect of the Airport Modernisation Programme which is currently underway at the airport. It is anticipated to further increase the capacities of BIA’s facilities, making it capable of serving very high volumes relative to its size, and preparing it for the expected travel and cargo growth.
